Character Bio:
Sakon is the extremely talented sixteen-year-old grandson of the master Bunraku puppeteer Saemon Tachibana, a national living treasure of Japan. Having been brought up in the art of Bunraku (classical Japanese puppet theatre) since he was very young, he has earned his own fame as the potential successor to his grandfather’s title. Sakon is very polite, shy and lacks confidence in himself, but he’s almost a different person when he is with his preferred puppet, a meiji-era child puppet named Ukon.
Ukon seems to have a personality of his own, the complete opposite of Sakon’s. He is loud, brash, egocentric, and doesn’t treat Sakon too well, but together they make a pretty good crime-solving team. With the help of Ukon, Sakon has discovered his own strength and capabilities as a detective, as well as a performer. All in all, the relationship between the puppet and the boy is very much like that between two real people; Sakon thinks of Ukon as a friend more than as a tool.
It has been speculated that Ukon is a cursed living puppet, and that Sakon is actually channeling the spirit of the dead person the puppet is based on through his strong spiritual abilities, but not much is known about the matter.
Upon arrival to Avoria, Ukon stopped speaking to Sakon, and now Sakon is feeling very afraid and lonely. Please take good care of him!
